The Press Association reports that Deena Kastor, Lornah Kiplagat and Catherine Ndereba will be competing in next month’s NYC Half Marathon. Rose Kosgei, the winner of the 2009 Mini 10K will also be running.
“It is always exciting to return to New York and race against a competitive field of women,” said Kastor through a statement. “The NYC Half-Marathon is renowned among elite athletes wishing to compete at this distance, and this year it will showcase another stellar field in which I’m anxious to compete.”
After almost three days, registration has closed for the NYC Half Marathon. Guaranteed entry is still available through qualifying times, national travel partners or charities.

Registration for the 2009 NYC Half Marathon is now open!
UPDATE (12:15pm): While it appears that some runners are able to successfully register, many others are getting “Server Too Busy” errors.
Today at noon, registration opens for the 2009 NYC Half Marathon, which takes place on August 16th. There is no lottery this year and race registration will close as soon as it is full. Demand is expected to be high, so be ready to register if you’d like to run the NYC Half this year.
UPDATE (9:10 am): NYRR has officially posted the NYC Half Marathon information to the NYRR website and the fees have been confirmed:

Non-Members Domestic: US $70
Non-Members International: US $70
RunnersWeb.com has an article about the 2009 NYC Half Marathon, which will open for registration this Friday, May 1st at noon on a first come, first served basis. The article discusses the possible high demand for the race:
Demand is expected to be heavy; 19,500 people applied last year and only 10,500 were accepted.
With registration for the NYC Half Marathon approaching, NYRR has not yet officially released the pricing for the race. However, an anonymous reader has provided the following information about the NYC Half fees. This information should be treated as an unverified rumor:

The NYRR calendar now reflects this date, but the Team Championships are still listed as taking place on August 15th.

In an e-mail to running team leaders on Thursday, Mary Wittenberg wrote that the Club Team Championships would be moved up one week to Saturday, August 8th to accommodate the NYC Half Marathon, which will be taking place Sunday, August 16th. According to the e-mail, August 16th “is the date that works for the City” for the NYC Half Marathon.
