This was another annoying “not accepted” from NYRR. It has been years since I was “accepted” via lottery from NYRR. I am getting close to plan my running season through Philly or Boston or the Jersey Shore. I don’t love all of the international and tourist runners getting priority over locals.

There’s only so many people you can squeeze into the streets of NYC.

My thought is that if you really want to do the NYC Half Marathon, you can run faster to qualify or join a charity. Even if I ran fast enough to qualify, I probably would sign up for a Team for Kids. It’s a great cause.

It’s a great thing that so many people want to run the race, however so many more will not be able to do it. So there are plenty of other races you can venture on.

Running should be a joy anywhere you go. Just last week, I ran in the blizzard, and it was so peaceful. No one was around, unlike running in the NYC Marathon which has all the hoopla. Each run will be unique.

Just be lucky that NYRR does not institute a qualifying time for all runners. In that case, more people would not get in. I would think there will be more angry runners.

If you were NYRR, what would you do to make it fair for everyone?
