2010 NYC Marathon Application Available 11/2

The 2010 ING New York City Marathon application will be available on November 2nd, 2009, the day after this year’s marathon. From the official NYC Marathon site:

By adding 12 weeks to the training schedule, NYRR hopes to attract runners from a wider spectrum of ability, from experienced runners to novices — even people who have never run a step.

At NYRR, our purpose is to grow the community and sport of running to promote health and wellness. Of course, the ING New York City Marathon will still be organized to attract the best in the world, the best in each age group, and experienced runners looking for a personal best. But now there’s more room — and more time — for everyone.

NYRR is overreaching. The overall quality of the event will suffer. More hardcore runners will be discouraged from running the NYC Marathon because of overcrowding. It’s already happening with the local races which have gotten out of hand. Why do you need 4,000 runners at a 4 mile race in Central Park? That’s nuts.

Why can’t you qualify for NY? You’re too slow? Why do you even bother to run, then?

Ana- why don’t you do an Ironman- out of shape? Or just rude to those who aspire to challenge themselves to do things they thought they never could?

  6. Amega Global Says:

This will be another great marathon.

@ Anna – Why don’t you join in instead of being rude to somebody.
