I think I remember the d-tags being used in a Pride Run last year, or perhaps the year before. I already get (irrationally) nervous about losing the ChampionChip mid-race, those d-tags make me even more nervous! I guess the main advantage is not having to deal with chip clipping or billing for unreturned chips. I’ve noticed that they’ve been using the ChronoTrack more frequently lately.
