Father’s Day Race Open, Brooklyn Half Coming Soon

Registration for The 10th Annual Father’s Day Race Against Prostate Cancer is now open.  And, according to the official NYRR Twitter account, Brooklyn Half Marathon info is “coming soon.”

Wildlife Conservation Society Announces Run for the Wild 5K

Run for the Wild LogoOn April 25th, 2009, The Wildlife Conservation Society will hold their first annual Run for the Wild 5K through The Bronx Zoo. It is an untimed run/walk for all ages and is not intended to be a competitive event. Proceeds from the race support WCS and the United Nations “Year of the Gorilla.”  The race starts at 9:00am and the registration fee includes complimentary Bronx Zoo entry and a Gorilla Forest ticket.

Brooklyn Half Marathon Update from NYRR

There has been an update posted to the official NYRR twitter feed about the Brooklyn Half Marathon and the WABC Father’s Day Fight Against Prostate Cancer:

For those wondering about the Bklyn Half and Father’s Day race…registration is coming. Should be no later than next week.

There is still no final confirmation on the date of the Brooklyn Half, which is currently on the calendar for May 30th with a note saying that the date is tentative.

Saturday: NYRR 8000

This Saturday, March 14th in Central Park is the NYRR 8000.  The race starts at 8:30am. The National Weather Service is predicting great weather for running: Sunny with a high near 52° for the day. Check back here Monday morning for our race report round-up.

2009 Brooklyn Half Marathon Still Not Confirmed

A bit of “non-news” here: the 2009 NYRR Half-Marathon Grand Prix Presented by Continental Airlines: Brooklyn is still listed as tentative on the NYRR calendar on Saturday, May 30th. However, a NYRR staff member posted the following response to the NYRR Facebook group:

Starting a 12 week plan for this race. I hope that it gets confirmed soon. Details could come later, but want to make sure it will happen on that date. Could someone at least know if this is race is a go?
We are working on finalizing all approvals, dotting i’s and crossing t’s. As soon as NYRR can confirm we will. Apologies for the delay.

Updated 3/16/09: NYRR says should be opening registration sometime between 3/16 and 3/20.

Registration for this Saturday’s NYRR 8000 is now closed.  The NYRR homepage and race page have not yet been updated, but you are no longer able to go through the online registation process for this race.
