Registration for the NYC Half-Marathon will be closing at 11:59 p.m. on this Wednesday, May 16th. For those that do not have guaranteed entry into the race, lottery results will be available on Tuesday, May 22nd.

This weekend’s weather should be great for running: with both Saturday and Sunday being mostly sunny with daily highs in the low 70’s.
Today is the last day of discounted registration for the American Heart Association Start! Wall Street Run, a 5K which takes place in the Financial District at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 22nd.
Today is the last day of discounted registration for The Healthy Kidney 10K, which takes place on Saturday, May 19th in Central Park.
With the perfect weather in the city, you may want to take advantage of some of the running events going on this weekend:
Keep in mind that the Five Boro Bike Tour will be taking place on Sunday morning and will be riding up the East Drive of Central Park as part of the 42 mile course.
The 2007 Queens Half-Marathon is now on the NYRR calendar. As previously posted, it will be taking place on Sunday, September 23rd, 2007. The link on the calendar currently takes the users to the Brooklyn Half-Marathon page, so there’s no new information yet about the possibility of a new course.

According to The National Weather Service forecast, the next seven days in New York City will be clear and in the mid 60’s, and starting to get warmer around Tuesday of next week.

According to the New York Times, Mary Wittenberg is expected to announce that this year’s New York City Marathon will not have pacesetters, or “rabbits” for the elite athletes. From the article:
“We believe the best way to develop our sport is to focus on head-to-head competition,†Wittenberg said yesterday. “It’s all about building our stars and the thrill of victory. Time shouldn’t be the focus.â€
