This Weekend’s Running Events
Besides the Brooklyn Half-Marathon this Saturday, there are a few other (albeit shorter distance) running events going on in New York City this weekend. On Saturday at 9:30 am in Central Park is the Concern Hunger Run/Walk 5K to benefit families in need in Darfur. On Sunday at 8:30 am in Central Park is the NYRR Police-Fire Race, which is a 5 miler that is only open to active or retired NYPD or NYFD personnel, their family and friends. Also on Sunday is Van Cortlandt Track Club’s Urban Environmental Challenge, a 10K trail race in the Bronx, which takes place at 10:00 am. And finally, The Third Annual New York Relays (PDF) will be going on throughout the day on Sunday in Icahn Stadium on Randall’s Island.
