The weather was perfect for the 5,707 runners who finished the Run as One this morning in Central Park. The race was won by Worku Beyi, with Demesse Tefera directly behind him, both from Westchester Track Club. The first place female finisher was Alemtsehay Misganaw, also from WTC. Today is the last day of discounted registration for the New York Junior League Mother’s Day women-only 10 mile and co-ed 4 mile.  This race takes place on Sunday, May 13th, 2007 in Central Park.

The Fifth Annual Run as One, TGL Classic Presented by JPMorgan Chase takes place this Sunday, April 29th at 8:30 a.m. in Central Park. This race benefits lung cancer research and is a club points race. NYRR has uploaded a PDF map of the course, which is the same as last weekend's adidas Run for the Parks. According to the National Weather Service Forecast, Sunday morning should be partly cloudy with temperatures in the 50's.

This year's NYC Half-Marathon will have three preferred start corrals.  From the race information page on the NYRR site:

To be eligible for one of the three preferred start corrals you must have run a 10K race or longer in 2006 at a 7:20 pace/mile or better if you are male, or 8:20 or better if you are female.

The Queens Chronicle published an article which gives specific information about the NYRR Half-Marathon Grand Prix: Queens:

• It will be taking place on September 23rd at 7:00 a.m.
• Instead of travelling around College Point twice, the race will start there and go through Whitestone before ending at MacNeil Park in College Point.
• The exact course will be announced later since all the Whitestone streets have not yet been agreed upon.

NYRR President Mary Wittenberg announced that 2005 IAAF World Championships 5000m bronze medalist Craig Mottram and 2005 U.S. 10K road running champion Dathan Ritzenhein will be facing off at the Healthy Kidney 10K in Central Park on May 19th.  Mottram won the Healthy Kidney 10K in both 2005 and 2006.  Read the full article from Runner's Web.

May 1st is the last day to register for the NYC Marathon with guaranteed entry or for runners who live outside the United States.  U.S. residents who wish to enter the lottery have until June 1st.

Uptown Girl and Sempre Libera have both posted great race reports from the JFK Runway Run, which took place last weekend.

Joan Rivers announced this morning on The View that she is planning on running the 2007 NYC Marathon. She told The View co-hosts that she can currently run four miles and that she's running with a trainer, whom she called on the show "this bitch I love very much." From Joan's blog:

I have my own trainer, Frances, who is amazing. Every morning she yells at me, "Come on, Joan, you’re not too old! Bend over and touch your toe tag!"
