Sunday: More Marathon and Half-Marathon
This Sunday, March 25th is the More Marathon and Half-Marathon. The Marathon is open only to women 40 years of age or older. Women between the ages of 12 and 39 can run in the half-marathon if they run with a woman who is at least 40 years of age. Online registration has closed for both races, but women can still register at the Health and Wellness Expo, which is being held today and tomorrow at The Metropolitan Pavilion on West 19th Street between Sixth Avenue and Seventh Avenue. USA Masters women’s marathon champion, Susan Loken will be running the race in attempt to win it for the third time in a row. She currently holds the women’s record for fastest marathon time run entirely in Central Park, which she set at the 2005 More Marathon. In order to break her record, she would have to run faster than 2:45:35. For race day, The National Weather Service is currently predicting partly cloudy conditions with the high for the day to reach 49°F.
